Port Moresby Electrical (PME) is proud to have successfully completed the integrated electrical and solar system installation for submersible pumps at Goldie Barracks. This project reflects our expertise in delivering innovative, sustainable, and high-quality electrical solutions that enhance infrastructure efficiency.

Our scope of work included:

• Design & Approvals: Developed the initial concept, obtained approvals from PNG Power Limited (PPL) and the client, and prepared detailed medium-voltage design documentation.
• Electrical Infrastructure: Installed a 300 KVA pole transformer as per PPL approval, upgraded existing electrical infrastructure, and implemented medium-voltage and low-voltage distribution networks.
• Solar & Pump Integration: Integrated a solar energy solution into the new low-voltage distribution network to provide renewable energy offsetting for four submersible pumps, ensuring efficiency and sustainability.
• Commissioning: Conducted comprehensive testing and commissioning, ensuring the system meets all regulatory standards and operates reliably and efficiently.

We are proud to share another successful project by the PME team. A client with two 1000kVA generators and an ATS system required an upgrade to their control setup. After a thorough assessment, our team recommended a complete Digital Master Control replacement to enhance the performance and reliability of the generators and ATS system.

The PME experts promptly executed the installation, ensuring seamless integration of the new system with the existing equipment. The upgrade has significantly improved the efficiency and control of the power setup, giving the client increased confidence in their operations.

With the project completed smoothly, the client now enjoys enhanced performance and reliability from their upgraded generators and ATS system.

At PME, we take great pride in the dedication and expertise of our team. Recently, an apartment complex client experienced a generator failure. Our team immediately deployed to assess the situation. After conducting a thorough diagnosis, we determined that both a full engine rebuild and alternator refurbishment would restore the existing genset to peak condition.

To ensure the building remained powered during the repairs, we swiftly arranged our mobile backup power solution. Over the course of the project, the PME team worked efficiently to rebuild and recondition the client’s generator.

We’re pleased to report that the client’s generator is now operating as good as new, and we’ve earned another satisfied customer!

We are spreading the word about upcoming changes to the Wiring Rules at information sessions across Queensland in June and July.

Go along to find out what’s new in the 2017 edition of the Australian Standard AS/NZS3000, which is due for release later in the year. Changes include:

• new requirements for safety switches
• increased mechanical protection for cables installed within a ceiling space
• additional requirements for electrical appliances, accessories and electrical equipment
• enhanced safety requirements for electrical equipment
• installed in locations exposed to water
• five new appendices:
  • continuity of supply for active assisted living
  • electrical conduits
  • installation of arc fault detection devices
  • guidance for the installation and location of electrical vehicle charging stations
  • DC circuit protection and switching devices.
